Fundación desdeAmérica is an NGO devoted to promoting knowledge about the wisdom, art and cosmovision of the indigenous cultures of Argentina and the Americas, in their encounter with new emerging paradigms in the Western world, through research, teaching, cultural promotion and outreach, from a holistic and transdisciplinary point of view.

  • We promote a mutual approach between the indigenous and Western worlds as an essential element in the current global process of “convergencies” between contemporary holistic thought and ancestral traditions of knowledge.
  • We favor the emergence of a new world view which appreciates the value of respect for life and nature, the celebration of diversity, dialog, a revitalization of spirituality and an unfolding of consciousness, all supported by the conviction that this is a positive way to overcome the contemporary crisis.
  • Inspired by the Quechua concept of chaca-runa (bridge-men) in reference to the people who unite both worlds—indigenous and Western—, desdeAmérica Foundation aspires to be a "bridge-institution," a space that facilitates this human and cultural experience, so vital for the times we are living.

FdA’s logo
Our logo is inspired in this pre-Columbian rock-art painting image found in one of the rock shelters of the Cerro Colorado site, in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. It was presumably the work of the ancestors of the Comechingones, a little less than a thousand years ago. Performed in two colors—red and white—, its original meaning is uncertain and our present interpretation is, doubtlessly, subjective.

We have chosen it because of its deep beauty. Because of that graceful combination of straight and wavy lines, which evoke the primary image of a human being, both upstraight and in an attitude of prayer, but also with an air of a tree to it, of a snake and of a bridge or path between the worlds. It has also an element of the omnipresent duality and its eternal companion, complementarity.
